I absolutely recommend Y-DNA testing to help resolve genealogical mysteries and brick walls.
Of course, there is no guarantee that Y-DNA testing will give you the answers you seek right away or even at all. But, as I mentioned recently at a family reunion, we would not be where we are today if it weren’t for Y-DNA testing.
We certainly have more answers, especially for some surnames, i.e., Wannamaker, Bryan(t), and Jackson, which have been very difficult to research for a variety of reasons. In general, though, for our collaborators in these surname projects, Y-DNA testing has been extremely helpful in sorting out the family groups and direct paternal lines. We’ve made giant leaps forward.
No doubt, Y-DNA testing has provided me the experience of great successes and naturally, some even greater failures. If you’d like to take a Y-DNA test, I do recommend that you read about Y-DNA testing, ask questions, and then make a decision.
