I’ve been involved in Genetic Genealogy since 2012, and it has been a fascinating journey! The field is constantly changing, growing, and improving so there is always something new to learn. And, each year, there are advances in the scientific and technological aspects of the field that continue to verify what we know through traditional genealogical research and to help resolve mysteries.
The unexpected privilege was being able to help adoptees find their biological parents or families. It has been moving to be able to give these individuals the personal identity they seek through family history. There has been no better gift than to give someone a sense of belonging.
This experience, in particular, strengthened my passion for connecting family groups within the extended Wannamaker family. Finding ancestors who are unknown to us and honoring all those who came before us is key to giving them a place in history. And, without them, and in many cases, their struggles to survive, we would not be here today.
