He married Helen Beck about 1854 in Erie County, New York. She was born on October 3, 1830, in Wurttemberger, Germany, and she died on September 29, 1904, in Lancaster, Erie County, New York. Jacob and Helen’s Immigration Story

Jacob Wannenmacher emigrated from Germany to the USA in 1853. He boarded the Isaac Bell in Le Havre, France and arrived in New York November 17, 1853. Helena Beck is also on board. Helena and Jacob appear together on the ships passenger list on lines 45 and 46. There are three other Becks (Christ, Haver, and Mary) all from Wurttemberg, Germany. The Becks appear to be siblings. Jacob and Helena can be found on the 1855 New York census in Buffalo, Erie County, New York. They have an 8 month old son Ludwig born in Erie County about November, 1854. Jacob’s brother Ludwig is listed on the census living with Jacob and they are both listed as brickmakers. (Source 2)

Per the 1860 census, Jacob, Helena and Ludwig lived in Williamsville section of Amherst, New York. (Source 3)

In 1864, Jacob and Ludwig were living in Buffalo, New York on Fox street near North per the Buffalo city directory.

Sometime during 1870 Jacob bought 106 acres of land in Lancaster, Erie County, New York. It is thought there was an existing brickyard on the property which Jacob owned and operated for many years. Helen and Jacob raised 11 children on the Bagley road farm. Jacob lived here until his death in 1920. Helen died in 1904. Jacob and Helen were buried in the family plot in the Lancaster Rural Cemetery, Lancaster, Erie County, New York.
