Like so many others, I have been trying to break through these brick walls for a very long time. I realize these ancestors are not Wannamakers, but they are closely related to my family and cousins near and far. Since I manage several Y-DNA kits for these lines, I am often asked for updates and information. So, in an effort to oblige, I will post what I can here, all in one place, with respect to privacy of the Y-DNA testers.
Please know that it is not my intention to present research, records, and everything else that many of us have probably already seen for these specific ancestral couples. Rather, the goals are to:
- share general Y-DNA findings that can help steer research efforts;
- find other interested persons who are willing to collaborate, share ideas, thoughts, and research;
- reach a wider audience in hopes of finding additional Y-DNA testers from specific family groups in SC (“target testing”). This is very important, especially for the Jackson and Bryant lines since Y-DNA results indicate that there were different unrelated lines of the same surnames in the same areas. We need more Y-DNA results to help sort out these lines.
